From a 500 ml bottle. Label says 13.4% abv. Pours a murky brown with a thin off white head. Aromas of toffee and treacle. Flavors are sweet toffee with some hot alcohol in the finish. Tasty.

At SAVOR 2016. Not sure the vintage - assume it was Batch 4. Poured a hazy dark copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma was sweet dark fruit notes, caramel notes. Booze is pretty prevalent in this one.

Bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours hazy reddish hazel, small creamy beige head that dissipates leaving nice residual and lacing. Aroma is malty, dark sugars, a bit of cherry, vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet, out comes the bourbon with lots of dried fruits and dark sugars, date, prune, cherry, some oak, vanilla. Light bitterness and some ABV burn, but actually not bad. Full body, creamy, perhaps a bit chalky mouthfeel. Really solid effort. Kudos guys.

Bomber No. 012 of 700 from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper with a transient beige head. Aroma of mild brown sugar, bourbon, and rather plummy dark fruit. Nearly full bodied. Flavor is brown sugar, vanilla, medium dark fruit - like dates - and finally some woody astringency. Not much of that, as it’s rather malty, but somehow it just doesn’t seem all that sweet. Even with a suggestion of treacle coming along. And where’s the heat? I’m not even getting much of a gullet burn. This is mouthsmacking ale. Finishing extremely delicious.

Poured up at the 2010 Toronado Barleywine Festival with brownish amber body with weak tan head. The mild aroma has bourbon and aged caramel covered oak as well as a mild alcohol medicinal smell. The taste is definitely bourbon barrel aged with robust bourbon notes moving into a mixture of mild oakiness, molasses, prunes, ripe cherries and sugar stewed raisins. The sweet dark fruitiness is kind of subdued with the bourbon booze far more forward followed by mild smooth oak notes. Nice barrel forward beer that still allows rich tasty dark fruity esters to seep out.
