Can from Beer Trap, Belper. Drunk at home. Intensely dark brown with a small layer of tan head. Liquorice is most prominent on the aroma, with some coffee, dark malts and a hint of pine. Sweet taste, resplendent with liquorice but not sickly. There's a salty/umami note of old-fashioned liquorice sticks. Long sweet finish with a savoury component reminiscent of Marmite. Medium carbonation. Delicious black IPA.

Can sat on the platform at Huddersfield, 04/10/19. Black with a decent light khaki cap. Nose is mellow roast, light charr, pine dusting, light red berry fruits. Taste comprises light roast, cocoa sprinkle, light pine, hint of liquorice, faint Ribena berries. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close spiked with dusty hop bitterness. Ok CDA if lacking some depth for a 7% jobbie.

Can thnaks to Colin shared on the platform at Huddersfield Station. A clear dark nutty brown coloured pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma is liquorice. Black roast, singed pine. Flavour is composed of woody malts bitter black liquorice, singed pine, bitter treacle. Black roast. Little meaty. Palate is semi sweet, salt, frothy airy carbonation.. Fine.

Can from Lupe Pintos. Black body with a loose off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of blackcurrant and a hint of treacle. Flavour of caramel, blueberry and pine. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Well balanced and very drinkable. It has pretty much everything I want in a Black IPA. As an aside, although the liquid itself is obviously the most important thing, this breweryโs branding is seriously lacking behind its competitors.

Can from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Very dark brown with a small off-white head. Has a healthy enough fusion of dark malts and light fruits, some light carbonation is involved. Its aroma veers more towards the darker malts but is always very light.

Can. Nose is citra, fresh hops, slight weed, leading to chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, caramel, orange, chocolate orange. Taste is citrus, lemon, hint of lime leading to caramel, hint of dough, brown sugar, chocolate orange, hint of pine, spice in the finish. It's well balanced.
