Everything you want from this generations-old favourite - incredible length of flavour, sweet biscuit malt and a clean, refreshing bitterness to balance. A great restorative when well earned after a hard day's work!

Bottle in Oldmeldrum. It pours clear deep brown with a decent foamy beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, burnt caramel, aisin, sultana, leather, toasted nut and brown bread. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, wood, leather, fruit cake, cola and damp leaves with a drying finiah. Medium body and fine carbonation. Ok for what it is, but has a fair bit of cola character to it.

Bottle. Nose is malt, biscuit, earthy herbal. Taste is fruity, malt, hint of toffee. Mouthfeel is smooth. It's a perfectly acceptable bitter, bland, but probably one of the best beer52 drinks from the two boxes I had, but I still wouldn't actually buy it.

33cl bottle from a Beer52 box. Golden amber with a billowing cream head; floral aroma; dry malty taste; a light herbal bitterness and a touch of caramel to finish. A straightforward, traditional bitter.
