12 ounce can.

A: Hazy straw yellow, + 2 fingers of foam served at cellar temperature. No complaints aboot the lacing.

S: Spicy pine and citrus aroma. Overall bitter smell.

T: Light spiciness to the mostly piney hops, earthy malt that adds no sweet notes. How do I say it? Run of the mill.

M: Good enough mouthfeel.

O: Nothing noteworthy aboot this APA. A tough style since there are so many out there that are truly impressive.

Pour is a hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is a pleasantly mid hop. Flavor is again mild hop flavor with a bone dry malt. There is no date on the can but this seems fresh. A decent no frills pale ale.

bottle - Pours hazy with a two finger head. It has a hoppy smell with some band-aid. That’s not a good sign. The taste is definitely off and it gets worse as it warms. There’s a nasty, off, band-aid flavor. It’s another bad beer. I got through maybe half of it and dumped the rest. I’ve had beers gone bad from way too many breweries in recent years. What happened to quality control? Disappointing.

Tap at Atlas. Unfiltered orange-tan body. About 12oz in my pint. Big orange-hued white head. A decent APA, but can’t hang with the rest of the Chicago crew. Watery, fresh, boring. Orange tinged bitterness. Good, but lacking the hardcore modern feel I had hoped for. Better than average still, OK.

4 oz. taster at Atlas. Coppery amber color, with just a ring of foam that was like that when they first poured, before I got to the two lighter beers in this taster. Clear and present APA hop smell from the start. Taste is fully formed American hops that are overwhelming the malts with dry hoppiness, big on pine resin. The minimal alcohol note lets that hoppiness really push through.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces nicely. Aroma has a good amount of pine with a hint of grapefruit and a nice grain backbone. Flavor has a nice combination of pine and grapefruit that mellow into a grass and hay finish.
