(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 20 May 2011) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with herbal hints of mint. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, herbs and mint. Rather thin body, fairly dry, low bitterness. Quite interesting chocolate and mint mixture. Nice, but one at a time will do fine.

On tap at the White Horse. Clear dark red beer. Small tan head. Fresh spearmint on the nose. Light palate, semi dry. Mild chocolate malt. Fresh sweet spearmint! A sweetish finish with juicy fruits coming through. An ’After Eight’ beer and not bad at all!

Cask at The Market Porter. Pours rather black with some garnet hilites. Smells of spearmint. Flavor is spearmint over light chalky chocolate. The flavor is enough to wake one up, and I’m glad it’s a half rather than a full pint. On the positive side it’d go quite a treat with a lamb pasty.
