Bottle, I think from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Missus got me this one. Clear, very dark, ruby red. Thin and messy, lasting, beige head. Nose has chocolate milk. Hint of ginger cake. Light roast malt. Taste is milky sweet. Trace of roast malt bitterness. Fairly smooth mouthfeel. More of the milky thing. Low carbonation. Light bitter finish, with a soft twang of ginger. Decent. Probably better on cask, maybe.

26/4/2018. Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle. Pours mahogany brown with a creamy/foamy beige head. Aroma of root ginger, biscuit, chocolate, malt, toffee and ginger cake. Medium plus sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, dry finish. Warming sweet ginger finish. Pretty good.

Cask at Quakerhouse, Darlington. Black brown colour, light brown foam head and aroma of powdered chocolate, light ginger. Taste is chocolatey roast malty, bready, dark fruits with some ginger notes and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasty bitter finish. Quite drinkable .

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a creamy off-whtie head. Has a lovely milky smooth texture and taste, with its roasted malts developing into a sweet milkiness. Its ginger influence is light but evident. Good aroma.

On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. This could've been loaded as a sweet stout as it contained lactose too. Appearance - opaque black. Fawn head. Nose- light ginger but the creamy chocolate from the stout is dominant. Taste - again light ginger note and a lovely creamy chocolate stout apart from that. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Elegant finish. Overall - this probably should be loaded as a milk stout as they have been subtle with the ginger. And that's a good thing. Nice beer.
