11th March 2015
Lighly hazy amber - red beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little airy, modest fine carbonation. Smooth and semi sweet malts, mild caramel and soft malt cream. A trace of well integrated apple sits under mellow Port Wine and ripe orange. Finishes with a little alcohol spice, really not too much. Flavoursome and drinkable.

Sample at Tied House. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt and dark fruit. Medium to full body with flavors of peaty malt, fruit and caramel. The finish is sweet with a toffee and malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

A reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet intense butterscotch with burned caramel and solvent notes, fake raisins, weird. In mouth, a sweet cloying fruity caramel malt with loads of chemical berry extract, astringent notes, raspy and unpleasant. On tap at Angel’s Trumpet.

Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Malty with loads of caramel and a hint of dark fruits, maybe raisins. Meh, good but I was expecting better.

Pour is a brown with a small white head. Aroma is sweet caramel mixed with dark fruit. Flavor is again caramel with some butterscotch and raisin. Finish leaves an almost dark cherry on the tongue. Alcohol is not noticeable. This was a decent malt heavy beer.

Bottle at tasting. Pours clear brandy amber, small beige head, dissipates quickly, little lacing. Aroma is caramel dominated with perhaps a bit of raisin. Flavor is much the same, medium sweet, light metallic finish. Medium body. Nothing bad, nothing special. I will say that the ABV was well masked!

22oz bomber pours sort of brown plum juice with virtually no head. The aroma offers up prunes and caramel and cut by a sour red wine note. The taste is similar with prunes, dates and caramel mixing with red wine like sourness and drying tartness. Seems a bit off.

Bomber from BevMo. Pours ruddy dark amber with a little beige head. Sweet, smokey malt aroma. Med plus body. Flavor is treacle. Not getting smoke. Pretty much malt. Mild fruit/hop towards the finish, but mostly malt.
