Bottle shared with RandomStrangerNL at Lambik of doom. Clear deep ruby with bubbly creamy pink head. Medium funk up front with some dank cellar, hay, light mineral. Then some nice fruit kicks in, I don’t really get the individual fruits as such, but it’s all blended nicely into what you could call ‘forest fruits’. Soft grassy, more hay and funk. Medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft sparkly carbonation. Not crazy fruity, but a very nice blend that also makes the lambic shine. Great, again.

Bottle. Lambik-O-droom. Fairly pale, ruby red. Soft haze. Swirl of dense, semi lacing, raspberry yoghurt colour head. Nose has red berry sponge cake. Cherry lips sweets. Some herbal, woody notes. A little bit medicinal, maybe. Light, herbal funk in the background. Taste is lightly sour, and lightly dry, with a fruity sweetness on the lips. Light to medium body. Foamy carbonation. Short, lightly sour and fruity finish. Very easy drinking.

One of 588 bottles in total, at 3 Fonteinen's Open Beer Days, thanks Didier for sharing. Same principle as the VII.ii but with blackberries instead of blueberries, so a blackberry lambic mellowed and enriched with Hommage lambic. Pale lilac-coloured, regularly shaped, moussy ring of foam, open in the middle, over a deep purplish fuchsia red, misty beer. Funky aroma of unripe sour blackberries, lots of fresh 'furniture' wood (weirdly), nut shells and toasted pine nuts, old dusty books, stale urine, fresh fig juice, dried apricot, dry haystacks, amontillado sherry. Strong sour blackberry juice tartness in the mouth, made fleshier, 'winier' and 'darker' even by the raspberry and cherry from the Hommage part, utterly dry and 'brut' with sharply acidic lemony edges, tannic finish still fully soaked in sour berry juiciness, with a vague earthy note in the end. Very complex but very acrid as well and even though I'd love to revisit a bottle of this (or any other Speling van het Lot, for that matter), to my personal taste the blueberry version numbered as VII.vii achieved the same goal better - taking into account that blueberries and blackberries are totally different fruits with different properties, of course.

Pours dark purple. Médium white head. Smell is funky, fruity ( mostly the blackberry). Taste is full. Very herbal ( vegetable like) not my favorite because of that aspect.
