Murky dark brown pour, small beige head. Big, dark fruit aroma. Plums, raisins, figs, and quite a bit of dark, boozy, sweet, bready malts. There is a subtle, nutty, woody earthiness, with a smooth mouth feel, and soft carb. Finish is malty sweet withlow bitterness. The barrel seems to round things out with a sweet earthiness. Nice brew, a good sipper.

Single from the LCBO with a paper label and tag. Pours a deep copper colour with a smaller frothy beige head, decent retention, but not much sticking to the glass (a little foam). Caramel malt nose with heavy raisin notes, wood from the barrel and spices from the rum itself. Lots of dark fruits (raisins, figs, plums) in the taste, with some molasses, caramel and spices. Mild rum lingers on the tongue in the aftertaste. Alcohol well-hidden with average carbonation, a smooth mouthfeel, but quite on the wet side.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minor lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some light dry fruits notes. Taste is also dominated by caramelized malt notes with residual sugars very well balanced and some very subtle rum barrel notes. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but well short on the complexity front while rum barrel are too subtle for my taste.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a deep hazy reddish brown with a generous tan head. Nose is sweet toffee and nuts with dark fruits in the background and hints of wood and yeast. Sweet fruit and caramel front with vanilla and sweet rum notes in the middle balanced with some light bitterness and spice in the finish. Medium body with average carbonation. Quite nice and the alcohol is definitely present but not intrusive.
