Meaning “blood of the oak,” Sang du Chêne features sour strong blond and triple ales aged in three large format oak vessels: foudres, puncheons, and hogsheads. The oak influences provide flavors of toasted sugars, vanilla, and spice, complemented by the bright acidity and fruity character of the beer.

(Tap sample @ MBCC 2017 Green Session, Copenhagen) Pours lightly hazed medium orange with a white head. Notes of pale but lightly toasty malt sunk into pretty heavy oak, sour fruits, citrus, tart apple and white grape, vanilla touches, sweaty funk, yeast, light acetone. Light sweet and fairly high sour, finishing off dry and tart. Medium bodied, touch oily, average carb. Not bad at all, a bit over-sour for my taste and lacking a bit of spark but still pretty well put-together.
