Meaning “blood of the oak,” Sang du Chêne features sour strong blond and triple ales aged in three large format oak vessels: foudres, puncheons, and hogsheads. The oak influences provide flavors of toasted sugars, vanilla, and spice, complemented by the bright acidity and fruity character of the beer.

Keg at HL3 winter pop up, 17/11/17. Rich amber orange with a decent beige cap. Nose is sharp citric rinds, musty, burnt lemon, funk, damp straw, light spice, boozey cake mix. Taste comprises fruit balsams, funk, wood must, herbal notes, acidic bite, stewed and soured citric flesh, damp hay bale. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a puckering shmack and rising boost. Decent sour ... a bit on the boozey side but I thought the 9.6% was relatively well masked.

Gott!

750 bottle shared @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Ambrata, limpida, schiuma bianca leggera. Corpo smisurato, carbonazione media. Rabbiosa e scorbutica, ma affascinante.

Vom Fass im Muted Horn Berlin 2017-09 getrunken. Ein feines Sour Ale, allerdings ohne ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal.
