Cask from the wood, halfpint, at the SPBW 1st National Woodfest, Castleford. Black colour, beige head. Nice and mild roasty aroma, notes of chocolate, lactose and wood. Sweet flavour, lots of lactose and malts, mild roasty notes, some chocolate, very moderate hops. Smooth to drink.

Bottle from the Water Witch, Lancaster. Dark brown with a purplish hint. Chocolate, blackberry and a metallic touch to the aroma. Sweet taste with a touch of fruity hop in the finish. Liquorice in the aftertaste. Very heavily carbonated. A tasty milk stout.

Cask @ Mr Foleys, Leeds. Practically black with a small creamy off-white head. Lightly sweetened, it is somewhat milky, but blandish with its roasted malts.

Cask at Mr Foley’s, Leeds. Pours very dark brown with a long lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, lactose, sugar and touch of liquorice. Light to moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Finish is bitter and roasted. Good brew.
