Half pint from the cask at the Malt Shovel, Horsham. Pours black with a white creamy head. Aromas & tastes of coffee, chocolate, hints of smoke & roasted malt. Medium body. Smooth slightly sweet finish.

Handpump @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma ecrù media, discretamente persistente. Naso spettacolare, malti tostati, cioccolato fondente, legno, tabacco, cuoio, caffè, frutta rossa, anche un leggero vinoso. In bocca è morbida ma allo stesso tempo complessa, rotonda, bilanciata, uno spettacolo. Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione soft. Un capolavoro.

Cask at Sutton Arms, Clerkenwell, London. A black coloured pour with a healthy creamy beige head on top. Rich, roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee aroma/taste. Superb porter on cask.

Cask at the Cock Tavern - Hackney. Pours clear black with a frothy, beige head. Light to medium sweet flavour with strong ashy roast, bittersweet dark chocolate, but of ash, earth, raisins. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Great condition. More bitter cocoa to finish, rich dark malts, scorched earth. Outstanding.
