In České Budějovice, Budějovický Budvar (otherwise known as Budweiser Budvar or Czechvar in North America) and its original Ležák has been a constant source of inspiration here at Godspeed. After many journeys to the brewery over the years, it’s fair to say their philosophy, their brewmaster Adam Brož along with their former brewmaster Josef Tolar, and - more than anything else - their delicious 12° beer, have pushed us to redouble our efforts when it comes to producing Czech-style lagers of quality and distinction.
Enter Bůh Specialni Edice (4.6% abv), our collaboration with Czechvar. A reformed recipe based on our Original Pale Lager of the same name, brewed with Adam and his illustrious team here in Toronto after our Czech celebration back in October.

A golden lager with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice crisp biscuit malt with grassy Saaz hops, light mineral notes, pleasant. In mouth, a nice crisp biscuit malt with resinous Saaz hops, light mineral notes, very nice. Can.

Can. Rich, creamy malts, biscuits, lemony and herbal hops. Great nose. Clear, deep gold with a low but persistent head. Great saaz hops flavor, herbal and bitter, bready, rich malt. Full body. Just want more and more. Nice lingering bitterness. Excellent.

Can: Poured a clear golden color lager with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of fresh cereal notes with some fine dry Noble hops notes. Taste is also a mix of fresh cereal notes with some very faint residual sugar notes and some dry Noble hops also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid lager with great balance and great drinkability.

Poured from 355mL can (pkg Sept 21,2022). Clear deep gold with white head. Clean and crisp, nice saaz character there. Would say it’s more or less on par with original Buh.
