17/01/2020. Cask at the 11th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours clear amber with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, straw, hops, caramel and citrus. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Decent beer.

Cask gravity at the Pig's ear beer festival 05/12/2017. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is nutty malts, hedgerow hop, grass. Flavour is composed of nutty twig malts, grassy, sileage. Palates is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, decent condition.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2017, day 1 - Hackney, London. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. The nose holds pale grains, carpets, old citrus rind. Light sweet flavour with more pale bread, rind, biscuits and grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. Finishes with some doughy biscuits, light bitter hay. So so.

Cask at Pig's Ear 2017. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, oily, sugary, candied stuff, toasty grain, toffee and biscuit. The taste is dry, oily, toasty grain, grass, earth, porridge, twig and dirt with a dry, grainy finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth - feel. A very run of the mill golden amber. Forgettable.

[ As Colchester Cold Front ].
ABV: 3.9%. Clear medium yellow amber colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, caramel, light nutty. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, earthy malt, caramel, light nutty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171206]

Pigs Ear. Cask. Clear gold beer, small white head. Light palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin dry malts, modest sweetness. Contrasting bitter orange peel. Trace of fresher citrus. Dry finish. Not the best fest showings from Colchester.

Cask at Pig's Ear '17,day one, 05/12/17. Clear golden copper with a well appointed off white head that retains well. Nose is grassy, biscuit, toasted malts, light orange. Taste comprises bread, grains, light orange peel, straw, biscuit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a modicum of bitterness. Looks and feels good but lacks impact at the business end.
