Pigs Ear. Cask. Clear brown beer, no head. Smooth dry palate, modest fine carbonation. Dry dark malts, some coffee tang. Mild dark fruits underneath. Light dry finish leaves a little roasty bitter linger. Okay, but nothing out the stout mass.

Cask at Pigs’ Ear 2017. It pours jet black with a medium white head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, rather savoury, charred wood, roasted malt, umami, dark chocolate and liquorice. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, umami, savoury character, oily, peppery spice, touch of dried fruits and liquorice with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Could almost be done with a bit more sweetness to balance it out. OK, but a bit too savoury in my opinion.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours brown with a light, creamy tan head. The nose holds toasted brown bread, earth. Lightly sweet, with leathery fruits, well toasted grains. Light bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. Finishes with more grains, earth, hints of roast, dried berries. So so overall. A little basic.
