Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Pig's Ear Beer Festival, London 7/12/2017. Reddish brown in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Some plain chocolate, ripe berry fruits, dusty hops, sweetish malts, leading to a soft finish with some warming alcohol. An enjoyable strong mild.

Cask at Pig’s Ear 2017. It pours darkest brown with a small white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, oily, resin, cocoa, coffee cake, dried fruits, some oiliness, brunt fruit cake, must and some barnyard. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, oily, resinous, coffee grounds, chewy malt, dried fruits, alcohol kick, peppery spice, wood and some tannin through the finish. Medium+ body, low carbonation and oily mouth –feel. A bit toothy perhaps. Quite fun for a turbo-mild.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Clear amber beer, no head. Light palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation, odd that it throws no head because it is in nice condition. Smooth malts, trace of dark chocolate and a little caramel. A little dark malt tang. Ripe fruits, fairly rich. Mild spice. A little bitterness on the light dry finish. Good mild, plenty going on and avoids the blandness so many milds suffer from.

Keg at Wateoo Tap. Nil aroma. A murky cola brown. Very thin off-white head. Light bitter, which doed build in intensity. Caramel, choc and malts. Medium bodied. Slick, almost creamy. Average carb. Long finish. Drinkable. More than decent if not super exciting.
