A traditional old-fashioned, full-bodied English IPA. We based it on an old English IPA recipe and use Fuggles and Goldings, but dry hop with US Cluster hops (which were perhaps surprisingly available and used in this country 150 years ago) for a very complex but nicely balanced beer.

Cask at EBF28. Marmalade aroma with a malty edge. Light amber - marmalade. A few white bubbles on top. Light bitter - just. A vague bitterness! Some citrus marmalade sweet sour. Light bodied. Slick. Average carbon. First finish. Could drink it all night. But at the same time it's a bit of a non-event.

Cask at the Maidenhead Beer Festival, July 2016. A pale amber pour with a loose white head; dry aroma with traces of Kentish hops; fresh in the mouth with a green hop taste; then a lingering bitterness, and a crisp clean finish. A straightforward modern IPA.

Gravity dispense at Ealing BF, 06/07/16. Golden amber with a decent off white cap. Nose is light floral hop, citric shreds, biscuit crumble, malty, straw, earthy. Taste comprises toasted malt, grain, orange rind, straw, lemon peel, earthy, biscuit, bready notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a flicker of hop bitterness. Does what it says on the tin I guess ... re old skool English IPA.

Takeaway carton from gravity cask from the Richmond Brewers’ Fair. Pours. Lear gold with a foamy white head. Grainy malts in the nose, some old citrus rind. Light-medium sweet flavor with more grainy, litly toasted malts, orange rind, a bit of earth. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Leafy hops in the finish, more grains, earth. So so.
