Mostly clear, deep copper and light amber coloured body with a very thick, four to five centimetre tall, beautiful and microfoamed tan head that fades slowly. Aroma of strong sweet notes of honey, caramelised sugars, slightly grainy malt, some nuts and a light rustic earthiness - but strong in the nose with some hops and alpha acids here, too. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich nutty and earthy malts dominate up front with a pretty chewy sweetness, too, with the caramelised sugars and some deep toasted and quite bitter notes, but from the malt much more so than the hops, which are still noticeable, but not as strong. Aftertaste is rich, deep, sweet and pretty bitter, but again, the real deepness is the nutty qualities, some rustic earthy notes and a toffee-like sweetness, with the alcohol showing at the end, too. Overall, a much more 'old school' Imperial IPA that is more hoppy than I expected (or like) and sweet, deep and pungent in a more 'American Strong Ale' rather than closer to any relation to an IPA, but his was decent to try at best, but not worth buying or trying - there are too many better options out there! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria (Potomac Yard), Virginia on 27-June-2022 for US$5,29 sampled at my house here in Washington on 05-July-2022.

16 oz. can. Yes this is indeed old school. For the west coast style IPA, it is fine. Toffee and caramel malt with weak citrus and a bold blast of pine in the finish. Some resin lingers. Breweries are starting to come back around to the west coast style. Not very exciting for my own palate.

Can from the Packie. Lightly hazy deep gold color with a decent fluffy off white head that persists. Big bready caramel maltiness with a bit of spicy alcohol and some olde school citrus and pine to counter.
