Independent Ale House tap: pours red with punk head. Aroma hibiscus flowers, light spice. Taste is lightly sweet. Floral. Fine.

From a pint can. Pours a s clear rose with a pink head. Herbal and fruity aroma. Flavors are moderately sour cherries.

Deep dark purple and violet coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying pink head. Aroma of flowers (no surprise), grass, light syrup, hay and a touch of yeast. Light-bodied; Dry and slightly soured flavour from the flowers with a hint of caster sugar and honey, but the light tart notes of hibiscus (think Tazo tea 'passion' type or the Iced Tea they serve on domestic Thai airlines flights) make this very interesting and complex. Unfortunately, the saison and dry, yeastie complexities haven't found their way into the can, and this rubs off as more of a tart fruit beer or kettle soured beer with some floral aspects and not at all like a saison by any means. Aftertaste is dry and soft with some flowers and grass, but the floral and sweetness dominate throughout, but especially at the end with a slight tartness. Overall, an interesting beer that looks great (and un-beer-like) with a great hibiscus flavour, just not like a saison at all. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papilion), Nebraska on 28-June-2018 for US$1,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on 14-April-2019.

Can. A- Floral, grape juice, sweet. A- Dark purple color, clear liquid, slightly pink head. T- Floral, red grapes, cheap wine, slightly metallic, slightly sweet. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly off finish. O- I love White Elm but stuff seems to be slightly less as tasty when it's canned rather than fresh on their tap. This was nice and had a touch of tartness to it but also a bit of a metallic taste that I can't get past.

Draft, 4 ounce sample glass at the brewery. Appearance is a purple/ violet color with thin bubbles of head. Aroma is very mild flowers, dusty yeast, wheat notes.

The flavor displays several light nuances. Again another subtle adjunct in a saison from this Brewer; hibiscus is mild, yeast is present, flower element is low. Texture comes off lightly dry with a medium body. Mouthfeel is good with a lower carbonation level. Everything about this brew works for me. No one ingredient overpowers the other.
