Galaxy hops, exclusively grown in Australia are revered for their clean bright aromas, and lend notes of passion fruit, citrus and peach. The Comet hops packs a wildly bitter punch with a blend of grapefruit, lemon and orange flavors.

Draught at Tip Tap Room, 4/9/16.
Lightly hazy golden-bronze body has straw undertones and a fairly thick white head atop that shows moderate to moderately-strong retention.
Quite understated in the nose, at first whiff it’s rather herbal, fruity and definitely shows the spicy galaxy notes without any of the pine or heavy tropical character also associated with this hop. I have no idea what comet hops are supposed to smell like, but I’m getting lots of floral and wood-like notes, with some dry lemon and other various soft citrus aromas. Reminds me a lot of sorachi ace or maybe even motueka, though not nearly as heavy on the yellow fruits. Pepper and citrus linger on the finish, with very little malt disturbing things; maybe just some biscuit and very minor honey.
Dry in the mouth, with a dextrinous, but otherwise solid medium body. Floral notes combine with light star fruit and lemon-tangerine as stronger hop bitterness builds up (light pine, orange). Every time I think it’s about to get fruity and tropical, the bitterness and biscuity malts jump in to keep that minimal. Again, very odd that it’s 8%. At about 5-6% abv, this would be incredible, but for such understated, dry characteristics, I have no idea why you’d want all this alcohol (granted it’s not boozy, but why is it there?). Interesting take, though.

22 oz bottle poured, to begin opening day. Notes. Copper pour with a cloud cover head. Piney hops aroma. Big citrus fruit, and creamy. Quite bitter on the late palate. Doesn’t really have the distinct galaxy character that I can usually pick out right away. Refreshing up front, but bitter biting finish. Overall pretty good.

Pours clear gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet caramel and resin aromas. Soft with sweet, bready caramel and mango upfront turning to bitter earthy pith in the lasting finish.

Bomber thanks to T.J on the share. Mostly clear gold, thin lasting head. Aroma is sticky dank pine, mild earthy and herbal hop hints.
The flavor is a pretty bold hop profile. The pine bitterness is bolder then the earthy hints but they are both noticeable. Mild fruits try to make an appearance but doesn’t win over the pine and earthy hops. Medium in body, dry pine texture. Strong bitterness.
