Rating from 9/20/2010....Sweet malty aroma with a touch of butterscotch...light copper color...flavor is totally different than aroma...its crazy smoked, like a burnt hot dog...its not great....and that’s it...very simple

12oz bottle. Cloudy, muddy reddish-brown. Thin, steady head. Sweet malty aroma. Rather straightforward and malty, true to style in that regard. There is some thick dark specialty malt sweetness, but the mild bittering hops manage to even it out quite well. Medium to full bodied, this is quite refreshing. Not unlike a peat smoked brown ale. Mellow, well executed beer.

Bottle courtesy of Oakbluff: Poured a medium copper color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma is slightly sour which may indicate a small infection with some notes of caramel malt. Taste is dominated by lightly sweet caramel malt with no other discernable characteristics. Body is somewhat thin with a weird oily texture and no hint of peat malt. Overall, I thought this was quite bland.

Slightly hazy brown body with a small off-white head. Sweet malty and buttery aroma. Spicy, light smoke flavor with some butter and caramel.

Not bad. They got the elements down but didn’t go far enough. Brown with just a little cloudiness. Aroma has sweet potatoes, and promises a sweet beer. The beer is quite sweet, with some malt and considerable smoke. The smoke is nice and makes the beer considerably better than it otherwise would be. A little too much sugar and not enough complexity, also a little too thin on the palate. Keep the smoke, and add some malt while cutting down on the sugar. One positive was this was a very inexpensive beer. Purchased at Blue Max.
