Bottle (2005): A reddish amber pour with a finger of sticky beige head. Aroma is rather potent with fruitiness, husky malts, and some florals. Citrus sweets and even a little bready. Wow, organic with a potent aroma... this might be good! The first sip reminds me of a year-old Double Bastard. Holy taste organic beer!!! Nice citrus, caramel, toffee, bready malts, florals, and even some candied sugar. Nice faded hops presence. Warming and soothing. At first, I can’t believe all the low ratings. For an organic beer damn right I am impressed! Then, as it warms, it loses a lot of the flavor complexities and gets a little husky and earthy. Shit. It is an organic beer after all. I haven’t even finished half the glass and it warms up enough to get bland. Still, for $3.19 per bomber I don’t mind having it a bit cold! I’ll put this back in the fridge every 15 minutes at that price! **Note: If you can’t tell yet I have no confidence in organic beer. Nothing personal, but less chemicals equals less taste. This brew is certainly better than most organic ales. 7/4/8/4/15

22 oz bottle from Indra at my tasting 10/12. 2005 vintage. Pour is clear orange - amber with almost no head. Only a bit of off white clinging to the edge of the glass. Aroma of sweet caramel. Taste is fairly muted sweet caramel with a very crisp hop bitter finish. Good, thoroughly well made. Thanks for bringing this one Eric.

2005 Bomber, a gift from Odeed and our friend Devin; Nose of caramel, apples, and spices; hazy copper with a small beige head; flavor of sweet caramel, fruitiness, and clove & peppery spices, along with some alcohol, which stands as the finish. As it warmed the piney hop bitterness came out nicely. This is a decent barleywine. Much better than a 3!

Clear cherry brown body with a medium creamy tan head. Sweet molassas, rum-soaked fruit, caramel and tea aroma. Heavy malty flavor, light spice and pepper followed by molassas and some very sweet fruit.

(Bottle 65 cl) Slightly hazy, dark amber golden with a yellowish head. Sweetish aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied with sweetish caramel malt and overripe fruit and then a somewhat raw and brutal hop bitterness in the finish - they really should work on getting some better quality hops. Not a grand Barley Wine but better than its average indicates. 250407

Bottled. An unclear dark amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet grassy hoppy, but also with light notes of dust and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruits, medium notes of grapefruit and dust from the hops, and light notes of alcohol.

Aroma of sweetish malt and citrus hop? Slightly hazy amber color. Smattering of tatters of a white head. Starts with a strange sweetness - a bit pruny or slightly medicinal. Medium mouthfeel. The alcohol is noticeable, but not harsh. Very smooth, develops nicely, but it’s not an incredibly hoppy barleywine. Just a strong, malty drink. For sipping.

22oz bomber from 2005. Dark copper color with thin off white head. Medium strength malty and fruity aroma. Taste is sweet with some malt complexity. There’s some dark fruit like cherries or dates along with roasted malts. Near the finish some bitterness wells up and becomes overly grassy during the aftertaste. The finish begins to take on the nasty flavor of cough syrup. Not good. The aroma too. I haven’t had an English Style Barleywine that taste like this. The grassiness and the cough syrup made me pour about half down the drain. Really far from good. Yet anther in a long line of disappointing organic beers.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a thin off-white head. Light citrusy hop aroma. Citrus hop and caramel malt flavor. Lighter bodied. Lingering hops leads into noticeable alcohol. Needs a bit more body and a little more malt of something.
