RBESG August 2011, Brew Wharf. Black with a small off-white head. Mild roasted aroma with licorice, along with citrus hops. Dry licorice and roast malt flavour, with a good hop character. Very tasty beer, although with a bit of a homebrew feel.

Cask at the Brew Wharf. Pitch black with a loose tan head - looking the perfect stout; aroma of deeply roasted malts and burnt sugar; surprisingly full bodied and very moreish; milky to start with some sweet berry fruits and coffee, then a forceful dry bitterness to finish with coffee grounds and burnt treacle. An excellent idea - shame that this costs the same as a 6% brew though.

Cask at Brew Wharf, direct from the cellar on 27th June 2011. Impenetrably black, vanishing head and no lacing. Coffee aroma. Liquid fruity with berries, smoke and coffee flavours. Very bitter aftertaste, on a smooth light textured mouthfeel.

Cask handpull at Brew Wharf Borough. Black as hell and lasting tan head. Hoppy aroma. Hops dominate throughout with some creamy choc hanging around. Really drinkable. Bit like a chocolate grapefruit. Stupidly likeable and drinkable with good hop bite on finish balanced by this creamy chocciness. Good
