Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Black with a thin beige head and a light fizz - decent condition. Heavy roast notes up front, almost an acrid note. Some blackcurrant and chocolate behind. A moderate bitterness to finish. Ok, but a little too charred for my liking

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Dark tawny brown, almost black, with a tight cream head; fruity aroma; smooth in the mouth with a fruity taste and an earthy bitterness; then a dry finish with a lingering bitterness. Rather good.

Cask at The Claret, Addiscombe. It pours darkest brown, near black with a decent beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, dark chocolate, rocky road and touch of blackcurrant jam. The taste is bitter, charred wood, roasted malts, umami, liquorice, cooking chocolate, black pepper, earthy, leather and a dark fruits with a dry, slightly spicy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A touch spicy perhaps, but decent enough overall.

Cask at Ales & Tails, Twickenham, 29/03/14. Black with a moderate light tan covering, good lacing ensues. Nose is light roast, dark malt, cocoa powder, muted hops, pine twang. Taste comprises biscuit notes, subtle hoppage, dark malt, light roasty tones, hint of tropicana, dark berry fruit skins. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ticks the boxes for a CDA style wise but certainly at the lower end of the scale for me, lacks hop presence, pine bite and tropicana.

Cask at The William Jolle (Wetherspoons), Northwood Hills. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, slight coffee. This was very nice indeed, definitely the best beer I’ve ever had from Twickenham ales.
