2020 edition with 5.4% ABV. Pours an amber colour with a pinkish hue. The head fizzes away quickly, leaving no lacing, but beautiful carbonation to look at. In this one, the cherries really stand out over the sour base. The sourness in the taste is quite less as well, compared to most other brews of this brewer. The cherry flavours are well blended with the sour beer, so not too sweet, not too sour. I can see why this one won awards.

Bottle: Poured a clear pale reddish color ale with a medium size foamy head with limited retention and no lacing. Aroma of fruity cherry notes with some sour notes and light oak presence is enjoyable. Taste is dominated by fruity cherry notes with subtle hints of residual sugar notes and tart notes with light acidic notes also perceptible which covers some of the more funky notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable sour with nice presence of cherry but sour notes are slightly too dominant which limits the depth and complexity.

(On tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Jan 19/18) Pours lightly hazed medium pink. Aroma of sweet preserved cherries, almonds, savoury toasty notes, dried herbs. Flavour is light and watery, lightly tart cherry, not much going on. Rather light bodied and watery with slightly spritzy carbonation. Disappointing after the nose, which held some nice fruity character, to barely detect any fruit at all on the tongue. My least favourite of the Small Pony flight.

A hazed burgundy red ale with a thin white head. In aroma, beautiful maraschino cherries with light acidity, light Brett, horse blanket, very nice and complex. In mouth, a beautiful complex mix of tart cherry, light Brett, horse blanket, Epsom salts, close to a traditional Kriek! Well done. On tap at brewery.
