(On tap @ Mikkeller and Friends, Copenhagen, May 9/17) Pours black with a small tan head and a persistent ring. Nose is tight at first but opens up to maple candy, light wood, fresh dark roast coffee with notes of earth, chocolate, light liquorice. Flavour is a balance of sweet dark malt and maple, both dominated somewhat by big dark coffee, notes of earth, cacao, dark fruit, liquorice, light bourbon, somewhat burnt roast. Subtle alcohol in the finish but it does not detract from the lovely lingering coffee notes and supporting barrel character. Medium-full body, soft carbonation. Superb, the maple bourbon supports the coffee and the flavours are robust and tasty.
