Wasn’t impressed the first time around so left a bottle in the cellar for 8 months. A touch richer and more complete now, but still hitting my BW favs list. A good looking beer with a well laced off-white head on a dense ruby/caramel body. The nose is understated with hints of butterscotch, malt and butter. Butterscotch, some dark fruit and cherries along with some earthy hops. Taste is still a tad thin with a slightly metallic edge to the finish.

750ml bottle with cork and cage (as seen in pic I took above). A pretty clean, orange-amber colour with and mocha-coloured head and some patchy light foam lace. Some decent dark fruits in the nose, but mild, with dates and prunes. Caramel base with some hints of grass. The flavours show the hops with some dryness and big enough bitterness in the finish. The dark fruits are already mild, so this takes away from being a sweet, rich barleywine. Quite different in that aspect and easier to drink. For those who prefer a hoppier BW (at 82 IBU). Myself, wish the fruits would show more. Until next year's version.

A deep reddish copper barleywine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with butterscotch notes, fruity esters, light fusel notes, so so. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with loads of butterscotch, light resinous notes, light treacle and burned caramel, OK but was expecting more. On tap at brewery.
