Our Pale Ale is an immensely drinkable East Coast interpretation of this classic beer style. Using pure Glanbùrn artesian water from Nova Scotia’s pristine Eastern Shore, our Pale Ale starts with a nice hit of hops on the nose, a delicious balance of specially selected malted barley and both English and North American hops in the middle, and a dry finish that delivers a refreshing beer of rare character.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has stale grains, bread and some wet pine and grass. Flavor has earthy pine, musty grains and a bit of wet grass.

Bottle at Black Rock Bistro, Parrsboro. It pours hazy amber with a tiny, bubbly head. The nose is soft, sweet, juicy, malt-driven, toffee, caramel, oily, stewed fruits, fruit cake and spice. The taste is bitter, grassy, leaf, malt loaf, light spice, wood, brown bread, chewy malt, fruit cake, spice, toffee and light alcohol with a short, dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Fairly basic stuff. Chewy and quite sweet. Not great.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, faint caramel malt with light grassy hops. In mouth, crisp caramel malt with light grassy hops, roasted notes, not bad. OttBottShare March 2014.
