Imperial ipa? Uh OK. Yeah it’s got a bready, sweet malt bill, and some solid piney, citrusy hop notes, but this being imperial is laughable. It’s a decent ipa.... Congrats mill street you’ve caught up to the craft beer scene of 2006.

Bottle: Poured a hazy amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention. Aroma of citrusy and bitter hops is OK but grainy malt notes is not as pleasant. Taste is dominated by grainy malt notes with citrusy hops notes with light earthy flavors and too much residual sugar notes. Body is pretty full with good carbonation. A bit disappointed with the lack of depth and balance in this beer and not to mention the stupid flip-top wax disaster.

750mL bottle -- gotta vent about the waxing off the bottle. What's the deal with it? A cage and cork bottle with the whole thing completely waxed on. Took forever to get off. Anyway, once you do get it off... pours a hazy bronze with a small white head. Nose is quite fungal, with earthy notes, some resin and sweet caramel malts. Flavour is unusual and strange, with earthy resinous hops, some light fungal notes, and maybe a touch of grapefruit. Very strange stuff. Not offensive but not overly pleasant. It's okay.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy light amber color with generous head. Solid Pale Ale, although without strong characteristics; the grapefruit adds a bit of peel bitterness and a light soapy hint.
Nice.

Growler from the Ottawa brewpub. Pours a clear amber colour with a frothy warm cap, good retention and thick creamy lace. Nice hoppy hose with the grapefruit-pine mix, and some caramel malts. The mouthfeel is pretty hoppy, but not really dry. Kind of a bitter grassy-alcohol taste, almost chemically. Maybe like a bunch of citrus zest, but lacking the malt in the flavours. Just hints of burnt ones in the background. Smells good, but the taste has to be balanced a bit more. Thankfully get better as I drink it.

An orange amber ale with a thin layer off white head. In aroma, big caramel malt with grapefruit pulp, nice floral hops, butterscotch, OK. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt with resinous floral hops, burned Caramel, alcohol warmth, OK. On tap at Ottawa location.
