Bottle from the brewery.
Hazy amber pour, big white head. Aroma of piney hops, bready malts, booze, and quie a bit of vanilla oakiness. Finish is quite bitter, sweet woody notes with a subtle hoppiness comes through the booze and wood.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy light orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light dry hops with medium bitterness level with some lightly sweet malt backbone and very light oak notes. Taste is also dominated by medium bitter notes with dry notes and some light oak with a medium sweet malt backbone. Body is pretty full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Bourbon was a lot more subtle then I would have expected and hops profile not as powerful as expected. I’m still to taste a good IPA that was barrel-aged.

An orange amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, fruity mangoes, kiwis, caramel malt, berries, but no bourbon barrel. In mouth, a nutty and harsh caramel malt with loads of herbal mineral hops, apricot pulp, rather fruity and bitter, strange and not what I expected. On tap at Arrow and Loon, August 26, 2012.
