Bottle from the LCBO. Black pour, creamy, thick, beige head. Quite a bit of hops in the nose, and quite a bit of fresh cereals, and lots of roast. Reminds me of a black ipa honestly. Quite bitter, and very very roasty. Some light smoke, burnt malts, ash, and light yeasty notes. Interesting beer.

(bottle) clear dark brown colour with a tall brown head; aromas of biscuit, roast, noble hops; slightly creamy palate; predominantly bitter flavour with a long medium bitter finish; more of a dark lager character than of a porter - not attractive (to me)

Tap: Poured a light black color ale with a medium size brown foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of dry roasted malt notes with light black chocolate. Taste is also dominated by light black chocolate with some roasted malt notes and a dry finish. Body is a bit thin with good carbonation. This is quite a smooth beer with limited complexity and a perhaps too dry of a finish.

Enjoyed at the National Capital Craft Beer Week. Pours a dark brown colour (seems hazy) with a beige bubbly head and small dirty lace. Fresh roasted malts, like burnt toast, and hints of licorice and dark fruits scents. Nice bitterness giving a dry mouthfeel. The taste is much milder, but still tasty with butterscotch and dark fruits. A much bitter porter that is quite different and nice. Pretty awesome that they brought back No. 12 from the Wild Oats series, and this German take on the porter style.

A dark brown porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a resinous tar chocolate with light boiled veggie notes. In mouth, a smooth peaty chocolate with roasted coffee beans, light caramel, tar, not bad. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest Oct. 1 2011.
