Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - deep brown to black with a big creamy beige head. Nose - earthy, charcoal and light smoke. Taste - earthy, light molasses and smoke. Palate - light to medium bodied. Dey, roasty finish. Overall - decent example of the style. Balanced even if lacking in fruity high notes.

Bottle shared in a hotel room in Bristol. Pours cleAr, deep brown with a slim, off-white head. The nose holds the aroma holds milk chocolate hints of ashy roast. Medium sweet flavour with burnt brown bread, mellow baking cocoa, some scorched earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with well toasted brown bread, a little ashy roast, scorched earth. Solid.

Bottle thanks to Dan at LKS's. It pours darkest brown with small beige head. The aroma is earthy roast, charred wood, toasted nut, leather and cocoa. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, chewy malt, tannin, coffee grounds, toasted nut, cardboard and a light spice with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. A bit dry, charred and burnt. Decent.

Cask (gravity) @ 33th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2016, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England. [ As Kettlesmith Plotline ].Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark malt, light soy sauce. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, malt bitter, burnt, dusty malt, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20161201] 6-4-7-3-13

Can from Brewerโs Droop, Bristol. Near black in colour, with a small, beige, head. Aroma of chocolate, soy, some spice and plum fruit. Flavour was similar, with a rather thin mouth feel before a dryish finish. Ok.

Cask gravity at the 2016 pigs ear beer fest. A dark brown nut brown coloured pour with a a loose dirty head. Aroma holds nutty malts, ginger, hints of Christmas spices. Flavour is composed of semi sweet malts, apple, twig, dry roasted nuts, pinch of earth. Palate is semi sweet with a drying finish. Little thin. Ok.
