Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a faint, white head. Citrtus hop and caramel malt aroma. Lightly sweet with some earthy, dirty bitterness. Medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes with some mild sour notes and lingering bitters. Could be a bit old.

Bottle says this is brewed at Paper City Brewing in Holyoke, MA, so it seems like maybe they started making this again. Anyway, I got it at the American Beer Distributors for a super cheap $7 a six-pack. Pours a really nice looking creamy white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is not that powerful, but the malty side shines through. Hops are there, but not in force. Really has an Irish Red feel to it, but with tangy hops biting at the tongue. Slightly roasted malts. I would say this is more malty than hoppy. The finish is the hoppiest part I would say. Tastes like a really good amber ale like Prohibition or Hopback. Definitely newly brewed and not skunked.

Nice deep ruby coloured body with strong brown tints and a fast-dying tan head. Aroma of super fresh hops, nice tart fruit, potent malt and even a tad of nuttiness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour up front that fades into maltiness and leaves a bit of the nuts on the palate. Aftertaste is quick and mild, nothing going on really. Overall, nothing more than a dry-hopped amber or red ale that doesn’t do much for anyone. This one should be overlooked unless you really want a crummy beer from Syracuse. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 31-December-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Hazy reddish amber ale with almost no head. In aroma, faint caramel and floral hops. In mouth, more of a classy american ale with nice sustained hops with citrus notes, and good caramel base malt. Wooden notes develop as beer warms. Medium bodied. Bottle is one yr old, from Syracuse.

Clear deep copper body, thin/medium clumping light cream head. Caramely, bready aroma with some earthy hops. Bready, toasty body with an unusual blend of caramely malts and piney, spicy hops; these are both up-front at the outset, whereas the malts and hops seem to develop separately in many otherwise similar beers. Long distinct bitter finish, although it reminds me a bit of sucking on a copper penny. After a few sips, the hops really take precedence. Quite leafy. I’m not sold on this particular combination of characteristics. Thanks Dan (jah noth) for the bottle!
