Old rating from 2014 - 500ml bottle from La Cave a Bulles, now sadly shut. Poured at home in Jersey, it's a dark brown colour with a off white creamy head. Aromas & tastes of smoked malts, biscuit, flora, caramel & fruit yeast. Medium body. Light bitter finish with lingering smoked aftertaste

Bottle sampled during RBWG 2015, Lueken's Liquors. Pours clear amber with a light, foamy khaki head. Moderate smoke, medium sweetness, some toasted caramel, bread. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Smoked malts to finish, toasted bread. Good one.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Goutte d’Or Charbonnière ].[ Courtesy of Flaskedrengen ]. Clear dark to medium red brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, dark malt, caramel, wood, wood, light oxidide malt, light brown sugar. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, bread, smoke, wood, roasted, tart berries, brown sugar. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. 330ml bottle. Clear, mahogany colour with dark copper-ish glimmer and samll to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Mildly smoky, ashy, nuttily dark malty aroma. Taste is dry, woody, smoky, nuttily dark malty, slightly sweet hints of treacle, tomato barbecue marinade, dark chocolate, a touch of chipotle; oily texture, slightly sticky palate.

Bottle at home. Pours deep ruby amber, nose is caramel, toffee, light smoke, taste is sweet, fruity, caramel. Needs more smoke.

Bottle from eebria shared with Stuu666. Aromas of smoke and caramel. Taste is more of the same, heavy on the caramel for a smoked beer. Prickly carbonation. Sticky finish.

Bottle split at Luken Lickers, RBWG day II, Friday 20/02/15 ... dont miss the buse bus, dont chug the mead @Yasmine. Chestnut brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is smoked malt, toffee, nutty vibes, earthy. Taste comprises smoke, toffee, dates, dirt, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok smoked number.

Draft. Clear amber brown color, medium tan head. Aroma has burning straw, burnt caramel, toast. Taste is sweet, malty, some and dark fruit.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Slightly hazy reddish amber. Aroma of caramel, toast, some chocolate, a bit of cardboard, mild smokiness and a fruity touch. Sweet flavor, pretty smoky, with caramel, a fruity touch, some toast, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.
