Golden-amber in colour, this is a delectable malt-driven brew with inviting aromas of orange, caramel and toasted bread. German Mandarina Bavaria hops are employed judiciously and offer candy orange-citrus and subtle floral notes in the glass. As you’d expect from STF it’s soft and smooth; unfined, unfiltered and naturally carbonated. There’s a solid, reliable drinkability and a crisp, dry finish that makes this a highly sessionable beer. You’ll want more than one.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear copper with a small, fluffy white head. The aroma is rather fruity on the snout, apple, rhubarb, cranberry, toasty grain, brown bread, cereal, cola cubes and orange marmalade. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, toasted grain, brown bread, cola cubes, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, cranberry, rhubarb, fruit cake, touch of spice and ryvita with a dry, toasty finish. Average body and fine carbonation. A nice fruity Vienna.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear honey-gold with a small, foamy white head. Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of lightly toasted malts, touches of stewed apples, a little caramel. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with further toasted malts, subtle apple, low bitterness. So so overall.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy yellow brown and a thin white head. Nose - brown bread, caramel and a hint of floral hops. Taste - brown bread, toffee then a rich note of hazelnuts going into praline. And there's rich, sweet spice thing to it too. On second sip some candied lemon and orange over sweet brown bread, ginger and sweet spice. Palate - light to medium bodied, chewy and rich middle, dryish finish. Overall - what a really interesting result from what is a relatively simple style. Lovely stuff.
