Fine beige head left a still dark brown body. Boozy aroma. Medium to full bodied, flat as a pike. Molasses, syrup, treacle, Christmas cake g raisin tastes with a fruity finish. Nice little number.

Can from Great Grog. Dark brown body with a lasting beige head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, nutty malt and toffee. Flavour of caramel and treacle. Full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sweet and thick. I liked it but, for me, it’s one-dimensionally sweet (whereas the stunning Scotch Wine O’ Barley is sweet but layered and complex).

Slim can from Raynville Stores. It pours a deep kinda muddy deep brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is toasty, nutty, pecan pie, cocoa, chocolate bourbons, brown bread, malt loaf, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fruit cake and a splash of cola. The taste is slick, thick, oily, toasty, roasted nuts, bitter - sweet, toasted brown sugars, caramac, nutty, caramel, pecan pie, fudge, rye bread, malt loaf, fruit cake, warming spice, coffee grounds, light umami and some warming alcohol. Fulsome body, light carbonation and oily mouth feel. A big chewy/toothy number. Could be done with a bite more carbonation to stop this from getting too heavy. Fun winter ale in small measures.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep brown to black and opaque. Thin but attractive beige head. Nose - burnt toffee, an edge of molasses and raisin. Taste - raisin, toffee, orange peel and mincemeat. Palate - full bodied, creamy and sweet middle with a luscious and creamy finish. Overall - lovely gear!
