Keg at Brewdog, Shepherds Bush before going to see the ever-entertaining They Might Be Giants at the Empire. Black in hue with a beige head. Black coffee and milk chocolate. Toasted hazelnuts and a touch of toffee. Smooth mouthfeel cut through by a pleasing roasted malt bitterness. The beer board said it was a vanilla oat stout, but I didn't get any vanilla. Nevertheless it's a very well balanced and very drinkable brew. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Keg at Dogtap, Ellon. It pours black with a decent creamy beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, creamy milk chocolate, coffee, praline, forrero rocher and mocha. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, toasty, touch umami, charred aspect, coffee beans, dark chocolate, nutty, praline and bitterness which lingers through the finish. Medium body and fine, velvety carbonation. Rounded and pleasant.

Poured from nitro tap. Black with beige foam. Sweet toffee malt, light cocoa, milky nitro texture. Okay.

Pours deep dark brown, almost black, white a small creamy tan head. The aroma is cocoa powder, nutty, caramel with a hint of candied peel. A sweet chocolatey taste, milk chocolate, caramel and sweet roasted malt flavours and a sweetish finish.

Keg at BD Waterloo, 02/03/23. Light black with a big old khaki head. Nose is cocoa powder, toffee, mellow roast, dried fruit rinds. Taste comprises chocolate biscuit, brown sugar sprinkle, raisins, light roasted tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Okay stout.

Dark black pour with a stable tan head (not surprisingly), aromas and tastes of roast cocoa, malt, cream/milk - a very decent, smooth stout
