Brimming with coffee and chocolate flavours, hints of liquorice and dark fruits. Brewed with Pale Ale, Brown, Double Roasted Crystal and Roasted malts and hopped with Phoenix and other British hops. A rich, smooth Stout named after the characterful, black-tarred fishing huts that line Southwold's harbour

Almost black. Aroma is mushroom, roast, dark cocoa, almost burned. Taste is umami with some roasty bitterness. Low sweetness and medium carbonation induced sourness. Quite rough. The carbonation is mainly thick bubbles, something foamy would have fit nicer. Not bad nonetheless and good body for 4 abv.

Keg at Flying Pig, Cambridge. Malty chocolate aroma with a hint if peripheral liquorice. Opaque cola brown. Creamy. Very light bitter coffee. More obvious sour edge. Creamy throughout. Gradually develops a bitter coffee kick, however it's all pretty restrained. Medium-heavy bodied. Creamy. Flat-average carbonation. Long astringent finish. A really dull stout. Does develop some bitter coffee, as mentioned, but but not enough for a caffeine perk up.

Firm bitter roast in the finish, charred wood. Palate is semi sweet, creamy, moderate carbonation.
