Bottled. Reddish brown colour with a beige mediumsized head. Aroma is ripe dark fruits, some berries, mild wooden notes as well as some herbal and grassy notes with mild yeast to it as well. Flavour is quite similar, but has a quite strong tart edge, which actually shatters the flavour quite badly and makes it become somewhat out of balance. Not sure if it was intended to have this sharp tartness to it.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown pour with a wispy beige head. Aromas of prunes, raisins, over ripe plums, blackberries. Lots of dark and dried fruit flavours with a smidgen of chocolate. Warm alcohol approach on the old gullet. Nice.

Bottleshare at Chez Smith. Thanks to Leighton. Lightly hazy deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Airy palate, semi dry and with reasonable fine carbonation. Very tangy dark malts, getting mildly sour. Some balancing oak sweetness. Tart fruits. Light semi dry finish. Tangy fruits linger on. A little odd but holds the interest.

Bottle shared at Leightons place, 14/12/15. Thanks to Leighton for this one. Dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a small halo of tan head. Aroma is soy salty, umami, choc, some vinegar. Flavour is weird salty sharp apple, sour, choc roast. Palate is semi sweet and sour, moderate carbonation. Bit weird. Lingering powdered choc and tart raspberry.

Bottle shared in London - picked up at We Brought Beer. Pours deep brown with a frothy khaki head. The nose has torched wood, lime peel, cedar, pine, faint roast. Light sweet flavor with tangy burnt wood, tar, light rubber, more lime. Harsh charred wood. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly astringent on the finish, tangy burnt wood, more lime peel, cedar, ash. Woof. This beer is rough. No nuance. Too much barrel. Scattered. Not enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours darkest brown with a decent tan head. The nose is bitter - sweet, sticky, intoxicating, liquorice, fruit cake, light spice, earth and charred wood. The taste is crisp, tart, tangy, balsamic vinegar, burnt treacle, green apple skin, wood and earth with a short finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Tangy and not terribly pleasant overall. Not great....
