Bottle. Nose is coffee, lactose, slight smoke and wood. Taste is coffee, vanilla, lots of pine, oats, some plum and a light floral hop bitterness. A bit of a stale taste, the bitterness is a little sour in the finish. It’s an OK beer, but nothing to write home about. Manchester’s 563rd new craft brewer did not stand out for me.

Bottle. Tall Boys, Leeds. Clear, very dark, chestnut brown. No head. Tart, woody, roast malts. Some coffee. Bit of cardboard. Taste is tart, dry, and light bitter. Some vanilla sweetness. Soft, slick palate. Bit greasy. It’s easy drinking, and doesn’t come across 8.3%, but there’s not much to shout about, after that.
