Strong mild. Cocoa, vanilla and fruitcake aromas are backed by a satisfying yet subtle bitterness. Very drinkable.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the autumn beer festival at the Prince of Wales, Farnborough. Chestnut with a loose cream head; Bovril aroma; sweet meaty taste; and a lingering Bovril finish. Wierd, but very drinkable.

Bree Louise. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, no real head. Palate is light and dry. Very low carbonation. Light touches of roast malt and dark chocolate. Mild tangy dark fruits. Light dry finish. Tastes fine but the condition is not great.

Cask at the Bree Louise - London. Pours deep brown with a few bubbles on top. Pleasant aroma with dried, dark berries, leather, some roasty malts. Light sweet flavor with more dried berries, mild earth, burnt brown bread, cocoa, char. Light bodied with soft, almost non-existent carbonation. Nice finish, some more ripe, leather berries, nips of chocolate, roast, plum. Lovely stuff, just lacking a bit of condition.

(Cask at Pembury Tavern, Hackney, 21 Nov 2013) Dark brown colour with brief, frothy head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, nuts and toasty malt. Malty taste with caramel, nuts, dried fruit, dark bread and a mild bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Hardly exciting, but quite enjoyable.
