Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’16, 29/11/16. Pitch black with a well presented head of dirty tan bubbles. Nose is chocolate cake, liquorice, spice, dark malts. Taste comprises light charr, liquorice, spice, treacle toffe, cocoa powder, aniseed, light biscuit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok stout but the liqourice/aniseed effect overpowers it all a little!

Draft at Pigs Ear Fest. Cocoa is readily apparent from the start, blending wonderfully with the roast grains for a nice semi-swett flavor. Kind of a dull pour, but more than enough flavor to make up for it. Finishes bittersweet, split right down the middle.

The taste is roasted malt, toasty, loads of umami, cocoa, rather dry, tangy, toasted sesame seed, sticky and spice with a chewy finish. Medium+ body, soft carbonation and chewy mouth - feel. A bit chewy and dry. Fair.
