33cl bottle: BB7th Feb 2020. Drank at home on 16th Aug 2019. very dark body, beige top that soon became just a collar. Roasted maltiness rules both the aroma and taste, mild chocolate and coffee notes within the nose and flavours from those roasted malts, not a lot of hop action going on, but it's OK.

Very dark brown colour with quick fading head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of bittersweet roasted malt and also a bit of chocolate and coffee.

(bottle, 33cl) Slightly hazy, dark brown colour with a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Moderately roasted malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, traces of vanilla and a whiff of herbal hoppy spice. Sweet and roasty bitter flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Dark and mildly roasted malt character with a slightly syrupy touch, dark chocolate, licquorice and mocha; sweet-bitter finish with a whiff of leathery, tannic acidity. 24.IX.18

Bottle in Munich. Toasty malty notes over a fine foam layer, dark brown unfiltered. Fantastic chocolatey roast notes with a bit of nuttiness, over a moderate to low hops level befitting the style. Hint of acidity? Great for dark roast drinkers, the chocolate malt really comes through with some caramel from the crystal malts.

Flasche: Deep amber coloured with a ruby sheen, presumably cloudy, medium-sized and quite stable tanned head; moderate sourish-sweet nose of cacao, toasted malt and vanilla; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, accompanied by - as expected - a slight acidity, relatively light bodied; drier and lingering bitter-toasty and chocolatey finish. A pleasant one...

“Vulkan Porter“, Flasche (33 cl) von REWE. - Tiefdunkelbraun, fast schwarz.
