Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2023. Near black in colour with a slight, beige, head. An easy drinking stout with plenty of roasted malts, some liquorice character and a hint of sweet dark fruit. Good.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading] An opaque ruby red pour with a rim of beige head; aroma of toasted grains; and a taste to match with a dry oaty body; then some bitter treacle to finish. Very tasty.

Cask at Square Bottle, Chester. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head and good lacing/ The aroma is mainly roasted malts, but with some hints of dark fruits. In the mouth it is smooth with a creamy texture. It is very briefly sweet before some underlying bitterness comes through. Flavours of dark fruits, roasted malts and liquorice. Finish is quite bitter. This is very nice indeed.

Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Practically black with an off-white creamy-frothy head. Relatively low strength stout, but it packs enough flavour in this respect with good enough roasted malts evident in both aroma and taste giving the impression it's more fuller than it actually is.
