Angelica is designed to be a one-of-a-kind hazy showcase for the magnificent Mosaic hop, bringing forth strong citrus flavors. What really stands out about this beer is the pillowy mouthfeel the wheat malt brings out. The color, haze, and taste are as if you’re drinking a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice with a full mouthfeel. Angelica is clean, refreshing, and a true piece of art.

Metallic nose, may be the glass? You know, when you see wheat, I think hefe, more times than not, and yes, I'm incorrect. From a can, it does come across as wheat ale at first taste, hoppy and shit. So, what are you trying to tell, me? This is new england lazy ass style of wheat ale that's a IPA? Not sure. Cloudy pale brew, less yellow and more neutral lemon in color. Refreshing? Not sher. Some fruit juice, maybe if you think fruit juice is hops, heheh. Yea, fruity hops, just maybee. Go figger. In the end, its not a hefe my ratebeerian dude.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 5/8/2018. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.5%. Overall this is an excellent hoppy wheat ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Great mosaic hop showcase. Very vibrant, dank, and earthy hop complexity, some fruity yeast; solid pale/wheat malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Fairly nice. Cloudy yellow, nearly opaque. Nose is citrus and tropical fruit hops. Light zesty wheaty flavors with a kiss of spicy citrus hop flavors, low bitterness. Juicy. Light bodied, very drinkable near-session beer.

Combined rating can pours into taster cup at Craft Brew Race Portland and Craft Brew Race, Worcester. Appearance is cloudy, pale yellow (like urine with proteins), no discernible sparkle, thin ring of head with decent retention. Aroma is spicy wheat, citrus, vegetal/herb. Taste is wheat biscuit, lightly tart (Portland, 2018), more light fruit but dominant vegetable, lightly musky (Worcester, 2019). Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation and finish as taste, fairly crisp and dry, nice spiciness. Overall, I like the spiciness and a nice pairing of the wheat and citrus and light tart (Portland, 2018); still enjoyable in 2019 (Worcester) but more vegetal/herby and other beers do that somewhat better. The carbonation and flavor/aroma seem to have changed (at least for me). Originally a New England Wheat beer now labeled as a Hazy IPA. Don't know if that's just a marketing thing or, more likely, the recipe was tweaked in the last year.

Sample @ BXL BeerFest 2018, shared with Belgian RB crew, thanks.
