Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear 2014. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is soft, vanilla, wood, sweet roast, caramel/toffee, cocoa and light bourbon. The taste is bitter-sweet, booze, roasted malt, vanilla, coconut, bounty bar, toffee, pepper, wood and charred earth with some alcohol sting in the finish. Medium+ body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rather good stuff, but a touch boozy considering the abv.

Pigs Ear. Cask. As ’Bourbon Barrel Coffee Porter’. Opaque dark brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth and slightly dry dark malts, little estery sweetness. Very mellow bourbon. Light dry finish with a mellow malty bitter linger. Not bad.
