Hops are the flowers or cones of the hop plant. They are the reason your beer is bitter, citrusy, piney or fruity. Hops are grown around the world & different strains of hops have vastly varying characteristics.

This series of single-hop beers aims to showcase the unique character of some of our favourite hop varieties. The fifth installment of this series showcases Galaxy.

Galaxy hops are well-known for their incredible flavours that work perfectly in hazy IPA’s. With distinct notes of sweet fruit like peach, guava and punchy passionfruit, along with a tangy citrus finish.

440ml can as part of a delivery from ASDA and drunk at home. Light gold and hazy with a massive white head. Aroma is light grassy notes and some subtle citrus. Tastes sweet, almost a little spicy, with more heady citrus and a good bitterness in the finish. Lemon and white grapefruit rind. Some coriander and gooseberry jam in the aftertaste. Not a big fan of Galaxy but they really make this work.

Opaque creamy pale yellow appearance with creamy head. Nice pithy, citrus aroma. Again a citrusy taste. Some lime zest. Nicely bitter.

440ml can from Asda. Pale gold in colour, with a haze and small, white, head. Fruity aroma of mango and pineapple, with some citrus hops. Fairly easy drinking, with a slightly prickly edge, more fruit, a herbal edge leading to a hoppy, drying, finish. Enjoyable.

Can from ASDA Supermarket, Manchester. Hazy pale gold with a small bubbly head. Light Tropical fruity, only for the reason it's a tad watery in design, which helps in the brew not quite feeling its strength. Some piney notes.
