Can from House of Trembling Madness, online. Pours a murky red-brown, with small beige head, some retention. Aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, red berries, bread, booze. Taste starts sweet with caramel, then a fruity berry middle, finishing with quite a strong roasty bitterness and boozy note going down. Full bodied, smooth, carbonation is a little zingy and could do with being softer for the strength. There are some nice elements to this but they are not really combining to make this a must try barley wine. Still its enjoyable.

15th January 2022 Can. Clear deep reddish amber beer, good pale tan head fades away fast. Nose is surprisingly lager like when the can first pops. Smooth palate, quite light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness more than matched by smooth but umsweet caramel. Very mild esters. The description mentions almond and I get that, but it feels like soft pine and something else. Ripe fruits, soft. Mellow blackcurrant from the Bullion hops. Mild spice on the back end. A decent barleywine, nicely hopped but could do with some more malt depth. Time will be kind to this one I would wager.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 19/11/21. Hazed brown with a light reddish hue and topped with a good sized beige crown. Nose is dried fruits, cake mix, toffee, light booze tunes, dark malts, spice. Taste comprises toffee, molasses, fruit cake, chewy, dried fruit rinds, candied fruits, boosty burst, dates, light spice. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of alcohol. Decent barley wine ... weighs in below its 11% ABV.

28/10/2021. Cask at the 2021 Norwich Beer Festival. Pours hazy/cloudy mid-dark brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of toffee, malt, biscuit, dried fruits, fig and bramble. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Wasn't a stand out barley wine but still very nice, and for me the best beer we got to try at the festival.

Murky reddish brown beer, fizzy tan head quickly fizzles out. Sweet, boozy aroma of fruit and a little hoppiness. Flavour has berries, caramel, a little nuttiness, toasty malt, boozy warmth, some light zesty hop, a very light wine-y quality to the aftertaste. I could do with a shade less booziness as it's just teetering on the edge of being too harsh but it's tasty all the same.
