Polished mahogany in appearance with a superb creamy head, it’s malty with a hint of Ovaltine. The warming caramel and malt flavours are finished off with vanilla and a slight hop tang, delivered in a distinctive, creamy texture.

Cask at the Bear (JDW), Maidenhead. A goldn amber pour with a loose cream head; malty aroma; straightforward sweet malty taste; with a drier caramel finish. Unexciting.

Cask at Victoria Station. It pours clear brown with a decent bubbly off-white head. The aroma is sweet, toffee, fruit cake, heady glue notes, wood and varnish. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, wood, resin, varnish, mind astringency, leather, fruit cake, caramel and that gluey note again. Finish is pretty dry. Medium body and soft carbonation. Warming, but a bit messy in parts.

Cask @ Becketts Bank, Leeds. Traditional cask styled mid-malty bitter, which is decent enough.
